The McLaren 720S is so Popular, Some People Are Buying Two
The supercar is reportedly sold out into 2018.
Autocar reports McLaren has received over 1,500 orders for the new 720S, which means buyers placing an order today may have to wait at least a year for their car. Knowing that, some people are actually purchasing two McLaren 720S supercars for their garage, one that can be delivered as soon as possible, and another that has been customized to their individual tastes through McLaren’s bespoke McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division.
Sporting 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, the McLaren 720S debuted earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. It is being produced at the company’s factory in Woking, U.K. and is the first in a line of new models coming from the British automaker. McLaren is planning to launch as many as 15 new models by the end of 2022 and plans on sticking to its sports car heritage while other automakers focus on new segments like crossovers and SUVs.
