2018 Maserati Ghibli Lands With Updated Looks, More Power

The updated, 2018 Maserati Ghibli has made its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

For 2018, the Ghibli mid-size sedan has received a minor exterior update, along with a revised trim structure. The updated Ghibli will benefit from restyled front and rear bumpers, which have improved the car’s aerodynamic efficiency by 7 percent, along with a new grille and adaptive full LED headlights with glare free matrix high-beams.

The Ghibli will be offered in two forms from 2018 onward: GranLusso and GranSport. The GranLusso puts a focus on luxury with grown-up exterior looks and standard Ermenegildo Silk upholstery, while the GranSport goes the performance-focused route with sportier interior and exterior contents. Both trims are available with all powertrains offered with the Ghibli.

Speaking of the powertrains, the most potent V6 available has also been slightly updated for 2018. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gas engine in the range-topping Ghibli S and Ghibli S Q4 now makes 424 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque – up 20 hp and 22 lb-ft from 2017. Maserati claims a 0-62 mph time of 4.9 seconds for the Ghibli S and 4.7 seconds for the all-wheel drive Ghibli S Q4 and a top speed of 178 mph.

The Ghibli has also received electronic power steering for 2018, a first for Maserati, which is paired with a new Integrated Vehicle Control traction system for improved driving dynamics. A range of new advanced driver assistance systems are now included as well, such as Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, among others.

Pricing for the 2018 model year Maserati Ghibli has not yet been announced. The 2017 model year car starts at $72,850 in the U.S.
