The Tesla Model 3 will boost sales.
According to Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas, the number of Tesla vehicles on roadways is set to increase significantly before the end of the decade. By the end of this year, Jonas says Tesla will have nearly 300,000 units on the road worldwide, and that figure will increase nearly 80 percent to 531,000 by the end of next year. And that’s just the beginning, with Jonas estimating Tesla’s car population will increase tenfold by early 2023, compared to 2017’s year-end figure.
Assuming Tesla is still around as an automaker in 2040, Jonas believes that figure will be nearly 32-million units. “It has been generations since the investment community witnessed such a high growth rate in the population of a single auto firm,” he said.
