One user on YouTube has managed to capture video footage of the new Mercedes-AMG G63 testing.
The iconic SUV hasn’t seen any significant design changes in nearly four decades, so it’s little surprise the next-generation model looks familiar. Our spy photographers have caught the G-Wagen testing in the past, but this video gets us a better look at one of the more recent prototypes, which features a digital instrument panel. One prototype also gives us a good look at the new Panamericana front grille with vertical slats.
Otherwise, you shouldn’t expect the new G-Class to depart very far from its predecessor, retaining the same overall profile it has had for decades. It will however be a bit wider for more interior space and do expect new powertrain options under the hood. The biggest change is actually under all the sheetmetal, as the G-Class is rumored to ride on a new platform that will significantly reduce weight. We’ll know more details once the SUV debuts sometime next year, possibly at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
