2018 Ford F-150 Awarded as AutoGuide.com’s Truck of the Year

The smart and capable 2018 Ford F-150 has been awarded as AutoGuide.com’s Truck of the Year.

The revamped 2018 Ford F-150 impressed editors with its well-thought-out packaging, attention to detail, capable dynamics, and smart technology and features designed to make the truck easier to live with day to day.

“The rig that simply does more things for a greater diversity of customers is the heavily updated F-150,” said Craig Cole, AutoGuide.com‘s Detroit Bureau Editor. “While not a perfect pickup, it’s still an impressive piece of engineering that once again elevates the truck standard.”

Although there were only two new pickup trucks for the 2018 model year, the segment is about to get a lot more competitive with the new Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado that will be on sale soon. Ford is also re-entering the small trucks market with its new Ford Ranger, so you can expect our next Truck of the Year for 2019 to be a lot more intense.

For 2018, however, things were somewhat quiet in the truck segment, with just the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and revamped Ford F-150 qualifying for Truck of the Year evaluations. Although the two pickup trucks are both excellent, the Ford pulled ahead in this competition because of its smart engineering, clever technology, and thoughtful features for hard-working drivers.

Of course, this isn’t a head-to-head comparison — AutoGuide.com editors evaluated and scored each truck based on which one performed the best at what it was designed to do. Also, these trucks were evaluated in regards to how they stack up against their natural competitors in their respective segments.

The AutoGuide.com 2018 Car of the Year is the Kia Stinger, and the Utility Vehicle of the Year is the Mazda CX-5. Congratulations to all the winners.
