Chinese automaker Lynk & Co. has been spotted testing its new hatchback model in wintery Sweden.

The new small hatch, which is to be called the Lynk & Co. 04, looks fairly anonymous covered in testing camouflage. It looks similar to any other C-segment hatch, but is revealed as a Lynk & Co. product by its high-mounted headlamps and wide black grille.

Under the hood of this new hatch will reportedly be a 2.0-liter diesel engine offered in 150 and 190 hp guise, along with a 1.5-liter turbo making 180 hp. There’s also rumoured to be a more powerful 250 hp gasoline powertrain in the works. The platform will be shared with the next-generation Volvo V40, which will be offered in pure electric form. It therefore seems likely the Lynk & Co. 04 will be offered as a plug-in, or perhaps even as an EV.

Lynk & Co. has the desire to one day sell vehicles in the US, although it’s still a long way away from capturing the hearts and minds of American consumers. It’s not clear when the 04 will go on sale, but we’re expecting to see it come about before the end of the year.
