The 2020 Subaru Legacy might not be a super exciting new car, but it has just been spied testing.

Spy photographers captured the Japanese automaker’s upcoming mid-size sedan for the second time slathered up in camouflage, offering up our best look yet at the car.

The 2020 Subaru Legacy was caught testing in Metro Detroit, and although camouflage covers the majority of the sedan’s final design, it’s clear the overall shape won’t differ too drastically. If anything, the next-generation Legacy looks more chiseled and shapely than the current generation.

Expect the sedan to ride on Subaru’s new modular global platform. The architecture has been developed to reduce development time and expenses for new vehicles. Translation: expect a lot of future Subarus to share the global platform. The platform will also allow for multiple vehicles to be produced at a single manufacturing facility.

Under the hood, a new generation of boxer engines should be present. However, the 3.6-liter V6 engine will likely go away in favor of a 2.0-liter turbocharged mill. A 2.5-liter boxer-four engine will likely remain standard. But, both the 2.5- and 2.0-liter engines should add direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and lean-burn technology to further increase fuel economy. The brand’s continuously variable transmission will likely still report for duty, too. All-wheel drive is, obviously, a given.

We should see the 2020 Subaru Legacy make a debut sometime next year.

I believe this is going to be an upscale and bigger version of the current Impreza sedan.

I can't wait to see the debut on youtube next year! The overall design looks like the current Impreza sedan but larger. The spyshots look like the overall length is a tad bit longer and the wheelbase looks a tad bit longer as well. Maybe the width and height will stay the same. Also, it might lose some weight and maybe the horsepower will have a slight increase.
