Bentley has confirmed it is working on a high horsepower Bentayga Speed.

The Bentayga Speed will have over 600 hp on tap from its uprated version of the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine currently found in the SUV.

Speaking to Autocar, Bentley’s head of design Stefan Sielaff said the vehicle will also carry significant design changes over the standard version of the Bentayga. That likely means it will get an optimized front fascia, a new grille, sportier wheel options and sport-inspired interior trim and upholstery such as carbon fiber and Alcantara.

With these enhancements, it’s likely the Bentayga Speed will boast an even higher top speed than the Bentayga W12, which is rated at 187 mph. The Lamborghini Urus recently dethroned the Bentayga as the world’s fastest SUV with its 190 mph top speed, so the Bentley team is probably looking to top its in-house rivals. Could the Bentayga Speed be the world’s first 200 mph SUV? It’s a tall order, but it’s certainly not impossible.

It’s not yet clear when the performance-focused Bentayga Speed may arrive.
