New York Preview: Porsche Cayenne S, Turbo and Hybrid to Debut at NY Auto Show
Porsche has just announced that it will debut, for the first time on American soil, the all-new 2011 Cayenne SUV at the New York Auto Show. Several new Cayenne models will be unveiled including the Cayenne S Hybrid, the first hybrid from the legendary sports car maker.
New York Preview: 2011 5 Series the Star Attraction for BMW at NY Auto Show
BMW‘s all-new 2011 5 Series will be the main attraction at the German automaker’s display at the 2010 New York Auto Show, joined by four other models, all of which are world premieres. The new 5 Series is a North American premiere after it was first shown at the Geneva Auto Show just a few weeks ago. The rest of the list includes the new facelifted 3 Series, the 335is Coupe and Convertible, as well as the 2011 X5 and Alpina B7 xDrive.
2011 Kia Optima Interior Teased With New Sketch
Kia has just released a sketch showing the interior of the upcoming 2011 Optima [Magentis] mid-size sedan, ahead of its debut at the New York Auto Show next week. The sketch shows an overall sporty design with well-bolstered seats and a driver-oriented cockpit. Highlights include a three-spoke steering wheel, stitched leather seats and navigation system with a sizable screen.
2011 Kia Sorento SX Adds Sporty Trim to New Crossover
Kia recently unveiled the sporty SX trim level version of the 2011 Sorento crossover at the Atlanta Auto Show. Unfortunately Kia hasn’t released any photos yet and we don’t have our own because we weren’t at the Atlanta show. In fact, we’re pretty sure no one from anywhere but Atlanta was at the show. So why would Kia unveil the car there, you ask? It’s simple, the Sorento is Kias first vehicle to be built in the United States at the Korean automaker’s West Point, Georgia facility, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG).
The SX trim level will be offered exclusively with the 276-hp, 3.5-liter V6 engine and six-speed transmission. Upgrades include a new front and rear bumpers, LED taillights, a chrome exhaust tip, chrome roof rails, stainless steel skid plates and 18-inch wheels. Added sport upgrades include a suspension that has been lowered by half an inch and Dual Flow Damper shock absorbers that are designed to improve handling while retaining ride comfort.
Inside there are stainless steel pedals and a metallic gauge surround, not to mention added standard equipment like heated leather front seats, an auto-dimming mirror, navigation with a back up camera and a 10-speaker Infinity Audio surround-sound system.
Kia should release pricing when the car goes on show next week at the New York Auto Show. We’ll be sure to bring you plenty of photos as well, with live NY Auto Show coverage starting March 31st.
Official release after the jump:
2011 Subaru Impreza WRX to Get STI Wide-body
After missing the mark in 2008, Subaru continues to add higher levels of performance to the WRX, bumping the power output to 265-hp in 2009 and now announcing that for 2011 all WRX models will come with the STI’s wide-body. And it’s not just for show either. Starting in 2011, those flared fenders will make room for a track that is 1.5-inches wider in both the front and rear. Inside each fender a set of 17×8-inch wheels come mounted with wider 235/45/17 tires – which can only add to the all-wheel drive grip.
MINI Countryman Set to Get U.S. Debut in New York
After its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show just a few weeks back, MINI will show its Countryman crossover for the first time on U.S. soil at the New York Auto Show on April 1st. The very first crossover from the brand, MINI expects this four-seater to be the most fuel efficient crossover in the U.S.
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport to Debut at NY Auto Show
Next week Mitsubishi will launch a new compact crossover in North America called the Outlander Sport. Already unveiled in Japan (as the RVR) and in Europe at the Geneva Auto Show (as the ASX), the new crossover gets yet another name for North America. We have to wonder what the marketing folks at Mitsu are thinking with all these different names, and why they would want to confuse customers with the Outlander Sport name – considering Mitsubishi already sells the Outlander and the Outlander GT (which are completely different models).
Lexus CT200h Confirmed for U.S. With Debut at New York Auto Show
After its debut at the Geneva Auto Show just a few weeks ago, Lexus has now officially announced it will sell the CT200h hybrid hatchback in the United States. The CT200h will be the first full hybrid offered in the premium compact class.
Report: Baby Cayenne Plans Get the Axe
Porsche will not bring a smaller SUV to market fearing it may cannibalize sales of the popular Cayenne. According to a report by AutoCar, Porsche officials have studied the sales numbers for Audi’s Q5 and Q7 and suggest the new Q5 may be stealing away customers from the larger, more expensive SUV. The Cayenne is also a very profitable SUV, representing 50 percent of Porsche’s profits.
New York Preview: Nissan Juke to Get U.S. Debut at NY Auto Show
Having just received its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show, Nissan announced the Juke will be sold in the U.S. and will give the crossover a North American unveiling at a private event just ahead of the NY Auto Show.
Spied: 2011 Kia Optima On the Streets in Korea
Kia has already released two images of its 2011 Optima [Magentis] family sedan before its world premiere at the New York Auto Show later this month, but thanks to an amateur spy photographer in Korea we now have a few extra shots. These new angles confirm the Optima’s handsome good looks, especially as the car still manages to look stylishly European, even without the help of a pro photographer.
New York Preview: Porsche 911 Turbo S to Make North American Premiere in NY City
Receiving its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show just a few weeks ago, Porsche will unveil the high-performance 911 Turbo S model at the New York Auto Show for the first time in the U.S. on March 31st.
2011 Kia Optima Revealed Ahead of New York Auto Show Debut
Kia has just released a selection of photos of the all-new 2011 Optima (known as the Magentis in some markets), ahead of the car’s world premiere at the New York Auto Show. Simply put, it’s stunning, looking like a more premium German model with a touch of Ford Taurus muscle.
