The coupe variant of the high-powered Cadillac CTS-V has just launched at the Detroit Auto Show, with an incredible 556-hp at 6100 rpm and 551 ft-lbs of torque at 3800 rpm. That’s enough to propel the 2+2 seater to 60 mph in an incredible 3.9 seconds.

After much anticipation, Cadillac has finally announced all the details of the new 2011 CTS-V Coupe. The high-powered version of the new CTS Coupe, which debuted at the LA Auto Show, is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found in the CTS-V sedan, with an incredible 556-hp at 6100 rpm and 551 ft-lbs of torque at 3800 rpm. That’s enough to propel the 2+2 seater to 60 mph in an incredible 3.9 seconds.

After unveiling the production version of the CTS Coupe at the LA Auto Show just a few weeks back, Cadillac is set to unveil the high-powered version of the very same car at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Plus, it will be joined by an all-new concept car.

As for the V, it will get the Coupe’s basic lines plus some more aggressive aero work. Under the hood will be a familiar supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out an incredible 556-hp and 551 ft-lbs of torque. Also expect some big wheels and tires, massive Brembo brakes and magnetic ride shock absorbers.

The debut of this car was pretty much a given and so we’re more excited to see the new concept vehicle. Cadillac says it will be the, “latest in its series of dynamic designs.” Past designs have included such impressive machines as the CTS Coupe Concept, Converj and let’s not forget the Cadillac Sixteen. Could this new concept be an idea of what Caddy has in store for the ATS 3-Series fighter or the XTS flagship, or is it, perhaps a look further into the future at some sort of sports car or a serious luxury sedan competitor to cars like the BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS?

Yesterday we had the opportunity to see Cadillac’s brand new CTS Coupe model and today we were on hand for the car’s official world premiere at the LA Auto Show. The CTS Coupe expands Cadillac’s CTS lineup to now include a sedan, Sport Wagon and the CTS-V sedan. Cadillac has confirmed a CTS-V Coupe is coming and we expect it to arrive at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in about a month’s time. A CTS-V Sport Wagon is also a strong possibility.

Just over a week ahead of the car’s scheduled debut, Cadillac has revealed the Coupe version of its popular CTS model, looking almost identical to the concept. Even more exciting is the confirmation that GM’s luxury brand will also deliver a 556-hp CTS-V Coupe, which is expected to debut alongside the standard version at the LA Auto Show.

The much-anticipated Cadillac CTS Coupe will arrive in May of next year as a 2011 model. The sporty two-door won’t be alone either, as the new model will debut alongside a high-powered CST-V sibling.

When General Motors emerged from bankruptcy protection and announced that it would unretire Bob Lutz, it seemed like an odd move, considering Lutz’s interest in performance cars and the fact that he’s 77 years old. Enthusiasts, however, rejoiced and with good reason, as over the weekend the former product boss and now Vice Chairman let slip that Cadillac may in fact build a high-performance “V” version of the upcoming CTS Coupe.
