There’s nothing more American than a good old-fashioned road trip. And right now, more Americans than ever before are choosing to take that road trip abroad – by ordering an International Driving Permit and exploring the world via highway.

If you’ve been dreaming about driving on the Autobahn, you might want to plan your trip to Germany soon.

The German government has agreed to establish a toll for driving on the country’s highways. The catch is that it will apply to everyone but, of course, Germans.

Signs like the one above may become a thing of the past if Germany’s opposition government gets its way.

Probably one of the world’s most famous stretches of pavement among everyday drivers, the Autobahn is known for its no speed limit policy, but a bill proposed in Germany could change that by year’s end.

Cadillac is drumming up a lot of excitement for its upcoming ATS model, which will be GM’s answer to BMW’s ever popular 3-Series. To get everyone excited about the new ATS, Cadillac has been releasing a series of videos teasing the vehicle as it gets put through its paces of testing and tuning.

The newest video highlighting the ATS’ journey shows Cadillac developing and refining the sedan on the Autobahn and the Nurburgring. By gathering an elite team of drivers and engineers, Cadillac threw everything it possibly could at the ATS in order to develop the perfect sports sedan.

The world famous Autobahn, known for its sections of speed-limit-free roads, looks set to lose some of its famous stretches of highway, with the election of a new, environmentally focused government in the home state of manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

Buckle up for one hell of a ride in this video as a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 blitzes down the Autobahn, tapping out its speedometer for quite some time. All this takes place while being filmed in less than a minute and if you’ve ever wanted to get a real sense of just how fast 216 mph is, the camera footage shows landscape just flying by like in a blur.

The most insane part of it all? Well, at least to us – the fact that the driver was also the cameraman. And by the looks of things, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill, off-the-lot Z06. Gauging the acceleration of the car, it probably has a few bolt-ons, if not some forced induction to get it up to its top speed that quickly.
