BMW is definitely hearing the plea that American buyers hunger for performance. Even though we’re not getting an M7 model but rather an M770i xDrive, the German automaker is blessing us with an M6 Gran Coupe.

Earlier this year, BMW announced pricing on its 640i Gran Coupe model and now the German automaker has revealed the digits for its bigger brother, the 650i.

BMW North America has finally announced the pricing details for its 2013 Gran Coupe that will be making their way to dealerships staring this summer. The Gran Coupe will start at a whopping $76,895 which includes the destination charge.

BMW may seem to be a little late to the party with their four-door coupe dubbed the Gran Coupe, but it may just be coming in at the right time to battle it out with Mercedes-Benz‘s updated CLS-Class and Audi‘s A7. While we’ve seen the Gran Coupe concept several times now, these renderings indicate the car’s production is underway.

Reports say that BMW is looking to re-brand the 6-Series lineup as the 5-Series Coupe and Convertible, to better align themselves with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class range.

A post from a “BMW Insider” on web forum E90 Post is reporting that the BMW Gran Coupe will go into production as a sub model of the 6 Series lineup. An M model as well as an “Active Hybrid” model will be available, and we can expect BMW’s 4.4L twin turbo V8 and twin turbo straight 6 motors to appear as well. The strangest tidbit of news is that a Shooting Brake (think two door station wagon) has been announced as a design study.
