Buying a used vehicle is always risky. Even if it’s certified, inspected and under warranty there’s no telling how the previous owner (or owners) treated it. In addition to lackadaisical maintenance water damage is a major issue to be concerned with as well.

Over the years, Carfax has become the dominant used-vehicle history reports provider, and now owners of 120 auto dealerships are filing an antitrust federal lawsuit against the company.

Adding convenience and confidence to the used car buying experience, today Carfax announced a mobile app for Android users.

Buying a used car is a lot more complicated than buying a new one. You can quickly judge a car’s life by looking at its odometer, however, there are numerous other things to look out for when buying a second-hand vehicle; especially one with high mileage.

Nissan North America announced today it will begin sharing information for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles with Carfax, in an effort to provide used-car shoppers with improved access to information on open safety and emissions recalls.

Potential buyers of Honda and Acura vehicles will now have no reason to buy a lemon after the company agreed to give all recall data to Carfax.

“Recall completion is critically important to us,” said Jim Roach, senior vice president of Parts & Service for American Honda. “By working with Carfax, American Honda provides another way for customers to increase their awareness and need to address recall repairs.”

Carfax, which provides vehicle history information to potential buyers of used cars, is a commonly used tool among used vehicle shoppers. Recall information will be available to Carfax customers upon entering a Honda or Acura VIN number.
