When the Chevy Corvette celebrated its 50th birthday back in 2003, many enthusiasts were hoping for a special edition model to be released. Chevrolet for the most part failed to deliver, only offering a version with custom paint and an emblem package. The aftermarket decided to take things into their own hands, coming up with a limited edition appearance package that commemorated the 50th anniversary.

Eleanor, the customized 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 that starred alongside Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie in the 2000 remake of “Gone in 60 Seconds,” will be hitting the auction block, and there’s buzz that it could sell for as much as £100,000 (that’s about US$154,000). We guess that with all of Cage’s recent and public financial issues, he won’t be bidding on this famous movie car.

An unrestored works racing team 1953 Austin-Healey ‘100’ Special Test Car has sold at a December auction for a record amount of £843,000 (about US$1.3 million) by a private buyer. The car was considered to be in “barn find” condition and this marks the first time it has made an appearance in 42 years.

Finding a mint condition 1968 Chevy Camaro SS is pretty tough. Finding one with 400-hp and just 5,251-miles, well that’s just a gem. Now one sporting a unique and bright orange paint job like this one? We’ve got ourselves a winner.

Hey, hey, it’s the Monkees’ 1966 Pontiac GTO. Ok, so it’s not the actual car the wacky band used to drive on their TV show, but this pristine replica will still draw a crowd wherever you drive it.

We won’t mind if you want to take a second to rub your eyes to make sure you’re not seeing things. This 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle is quite possibly the cleanest classic Beetle in the world and with 445-miles on the odometer since it was fully rebuilt, it’s more than worth the $21,900 price tag.

So we won’t be the ones talking about how this funeral was probably staged and highly choreographed, but rather the irony that Kim Jong-il’s final ride was in an American car, a 1976 Lincoln Continental to be exact.

Despite freezing temperatures and plenty of snow out in Pyongyang, North Korea, tens of thousands of citizens were not only enlisted to help clear the snow from the 40-mile parade route, but also stood by to bid their leader farewell. The funeral procession involved several classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles, something Kim Jong-il had taken a liking to when he was alive.

But perhaps being transported atop an American Lincoln is a family tradition, as Kim Jong-il’s father, Kim il-Sung was also taken off in a Lincoln during his 1994 funeral.

Toyota has done a stellar job getting us grossly excited about the release of their newest sports car – the Scion FR-S in America (read our review here) – and now we can add yet another video to their endless promotional material.

This time however, we get to see the GT 86 out on the road along with behind the scene test drive clips. But what’s really awesome is the tribute appearance by Toyota’s S800, which was first introduced to the Japanese market in 1965. Back the, the sports car featured a 0.8L, two-cylinder boxer engine with a mere 45-hp and a top speed of just 100-mph. Only 3,131 examples of the S800 were produced from ’65 to ’69 and it’s a nice appearance alongside Toyota’s new future, the GT 86.

Even though we recently had the pleasure to review and enjoy  Ford’s 2012 Mustang Boss 302, we didn’t lose sight of the classic Boss 302s that put the famed model on the map.
