GM has just released a Chevrolet commercial, featuring  the upcoming Transformers 3 Bumblebee Camaro. This is the third version of the yellow Camaro to be featured in the Transformer movies.

The video shows some great action scenes of the bright yellow Camaro knifing through the city streets then turning into Bumblebee. Tim Allen’s voice in the background says, “You may never have to outrun a Decepticon invasion… it’s just nice to know you can.” The third edition to the series is set to hit theaters on June 29.

2012 Honda Civic Pops Out Of A Multi-Story Cereal Box

In light of post-earthquake supply disruptions, Honda Civics may be a bit scarce where you are, but in Canada where the Civic has been the number-one selling car for 13 years straight, they now come in giant cereal boxes – or so a Vancouver ad agency would have you believe.

Honda is already marketing the car to a younger audience with fantastical themes, but this takes it to a new level, and may become a trend in trying to get peoples’ attention in an age where many think we’ve seen just about everything.

A similarly larger-than-life ad was a facade for a recent tall Hot Wheels ad on a real highway made to look like a car could do a quick loop along its way.

Ford Suing Nissan Over Brazilian Bikini Girl Commercial

Taking shots at your competitors is nothing new in the advertising world, but North Americans generally see the kind of gentle ribbing that comes from restrictive libel laws and the preference for subtlety over braggadocio.

Not so in Brazil, where Nissan ran a campaign for their Tiida small car (aka the Versa on our shores) that featured actors imitating rappers and dancing with bikini-clad video girls in front of a Ford Focus. The message of the ad was that Ford was overcharging customers (due to the $1,800 delta in price between the Focus and Tiida) and their lavish lifestyles were funded by the extra cash.

Ford took issue with the gratuitous nature of the commercial and has decided to sue. We don’t know whether their argument will hold up in a Brazilian court of law, but we sure appreciate the video!

Mercedes-Benz Launches Interactive Movie To Promote C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz is following in BMW’s footsteps and launching an online short film, dubbed an “interactive movie” to coincide with the debut of their new C-Class Coupe.

While BMW’s short films featured A-List Hollywood directors and megastar Clive Owen (before he was widely known), Mercedes is taking a different approach, with the artistic side of the equation being minimized in favor of girls in bodysuits, copious gunfire and not-so-subtle usage of the new car.

The movie hasn’t been released yet but you can check out the trailers below the jump, if you need your action flick fix this early in the morning.

Volkswagen Super Bowl Ads Use The Force, Insect Imagery

With two new major debuts in 2011, Volkswagen is hoping to raise their profile in the United States with a coupe Super Bowl commercials that show off their new Passat and give a hint at what the 2012 Beetle will look like when it bows at the end of the year.

The Passat spot evokes some iconic music from Star Wars, as well as a cute youngster running around in a Darth Vader get-up, attempting to use “The Force” on a variety of household objects. Unsuccessful, he tries his luck with the family car, a 2012 Passat, only to find out he’s in for a surprise.

The ad for the Beetle is a little more literal, showing a CGI-rendered beetle (as in, the insect) tearing through a dirt path. Ostensibly, this is supposed to mimic the sportier Beetle due in time for 2012.

Fiat Debuts First American TV Ad In 27 Years

This television ad, the first Fiat has produced for North American in almost 30 years, is longer than your average 30 second spot, and makes it clear that the new 500 isn’t just for the teeming masses, but people who like to enjoy life.

Filled with images of happy people and young families, the Fiat ads are decidedly less cheeky than MINIs ad campaigns have been over the years, and we figure that Chrysler is playing it safe considering that the brand is primarily known for the acronym “Fix It Again Tony”. First Chevrolet Volt TV Ad Hits the Web Before World Series Debut

Chevrolet will debut their first television commercial for their Volt electric car during Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday. The ad will tout the Volt’s ability to go farther than other electric vehicles by using its gasoline-engine range extender.

The range issue is a major concern for many potential EV customers, and Chevrolet is hoping to position the Volt as one that can be more than just urban transportation. Shots of freeways, suburban neighborhoods and rural two-lane roads feature prominently throughout the ad, ostensibly to highlight the Volt’s ability to drive extended distances.

Nissan Juke Ads Straddle The Line Between Fantasy And Reality (Video Inside)

Nissan has a tradition of entertaining television ads that put a smile on your face, and their new Juke has a couple of comercials that continue that tradition.

The first is a Walter Mitty-esque spot where an ordinary office worker turns into a dashing mercenary of menial tasks thanks to his Juke, and the confidence it brings him. The second spot is a kind of futuristic fable where the new Juke challenges the authority of a monolith/robot known as “The Dread”. This one’s a little out there, but we have to admire Nissan’s creative team for not patronizing their target buyers, who according to demographic data, are more interest in playing Xbox than anything else.

Honda's "Mr. Opportunity" Ad Third Worst of 2010 [video]

The Consumerist recently released its picks for the Worst Ads of 2010 and Honda‘s latest installment of its “Mr. Opportunity” series finished third. For this, the first ever Worst Ads in America segment, The Consumerist picked what it determined to be the worst five and then they let people vote for the winners (losers). We’re surprised the ad finished as well as it did.

We know it’s nothing more than an innocent little commercial meant to inform you of the 2010 Clearance Sale, so you can’t expect Honda to pull out all stops for what amounts to “old stock we need to move.” Still, a little effort goes a long way, fellas…

This ad looks like something the intern (Doug) whipped up on his netbook one afternoon when he got bored with shredding old Prelude brochures. The Honda brass (Tim, Jerry) peaked over the cubicle booth, saw the blurry, choppy flash animation combined with nightlife action straight out of daytime television and figured, what-the-hell… if it worked for Brad Pitt and Kim Basinger in Cool World (there’s a reason you don’t remember this movie), let’s run with it.

And so they did.

Why is it that these types of ads are run nonstop throughout the television landscape, while the ads we actually want to see are aired once during the Superbowl when we’re b-lining it to the bathroom with six liters of Sierra Mist in our bladders? This curious decision is the reason why we end up spending much more time with the beyond bland, fun-killing spokesman-slash-Hanna Barbera reject Mr. Opportunity than we do with something at least worthy of our attention, like Honda’s rather clever ad for the CR-Z:

Nissan Debuts Four New Commercials, Gives Glimpse Of 2011 Quest

Nissan is debuting four new commercials designed to show off their new tag line “Innovation For All”.

Showing off a raft of future ideas, like controlling your car’s climate system with an iPhone, and some more recent (like boasting about brake over-ride systems being installed since 2004), Nissan is pushing the new campaign hard, and teasing enthusiasts with an early glimpse at the 2011 Quest minivan.

There are four ads in total, all available after the jump. We’re still partial to the Van Halen-infused 300ZX commercial though.

Dodge Caravan Commercials Make Us Say "WTF?"

Minivan ads are usually focused on touting features that appeal to the families that buy them. Airbags to keep you safe, entertainment to keep the kids happy, powerful engines to cut down on “Are we there yet?” In a rare moment of humor in the segment, Dodge has commissioned a couple ads that are totally out of left field.
