Spy photos have rolled in showing Ford out testing what appears to be an electrified F-150. 

Regenerative braking technology could be making its way to more non-hybrid vehicles.

Aggregate data from the MyFord mobile app has shown that owners of Ford electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles drive 203,000 electric-only miles daily, or roughly eight times the distance around the Earth.

Early aggregate data gathered from the MyFord Mobile app shows that Ford plug-in hybrid vehicles are being driven in electric-only mode 60 percent of the time.

After announcing a potential collaboration on a new hybrid system for light trucks and SUVs in August 2011, Ford and Toyota have decided that they will develop hybrid systems individually.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid for its carpool lane access program, helping the American automaker join Toyota at the top of the list with the most 2013 vehicles qualified for the HOV lane decal.

Ford is projecting that its hybrid sales in the month of November will be its best yet, with over 6,000 hybrid vehicles sold – besting its previous 5,353 record in July 2009.

After the recent debacle with Hyundai and Kia over their inaccurate MPG claims, Ford may now be under the spotlight as fuel economy numbers for its new hybrid models don’t seem to be living up to expectations.

Choosing a car to push as a volume seller is an important decision for any automaker, and Ford factors in cost recoup time, range and ease of refueling as part of the process.
