Ford is offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay software to many of its customers who missed out on the technology. 

Ford will begin offering its new Sync 3 infotainment system this year. 

Ford introduced two new apps at CES that work with its new Sync 3 infotainment system.

Ford previewed its next-generation infotainment system called Sync 3 at a press event in Dearborn, Michigan on Thursday, also announcing that new system will ditch the MyFord Touch moniker.

Ford will reportedly drop Microsoft for its next-generation Sync infotainment software, instead turning to Blackberry’s QNX platform.

Ford is updating their SYNC AppLink voice recognition system once again, allowing customers to control a variety of smartphone-powered apps directly from their car. 

Ford will be releasing a free update to current 2010 and newer vehicle owners that will allow them to take advantage of the American automaker’s AppLink system.

Six years after it was first introduced, Ford’s SYNC can now be found in 10-million vehicles worldwide.
