Updated February 2019
Bing! The gas warning light illuminates and your thirsty car is demanding refreshment. “Time to fill up,” it says, forcing you to find the nearest gas station and lay down some cash for a refill.
3,000 Ford Five Hundred, Mercury Montego Sedans Recalled Over Fuel Tank
Ford has issued a recall for 3,000 2007 Ford Five Hundreds and Mercury Montego sedans due to faulty fuel tanks. The tank may not have been properly welded between the fuel tank and fuel filler neck. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted that in the event of a severe rear impact, a faulty weld could lead to a crack in the joint which may cause a fuel leak.
Audi Recalls A6, RS6 and S6 For Fuel Tank Issues
Volkswagen is recalling 5,992 2001-2004 Audi A6, 2003 Audi RS6 and 2002-2003 Audi S6 models because a fuel system flaw could lead to a vehicle fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This fuel issue is only affecting vehicles with 4.2-litre engines.
2011-2012 BMW 5 Series, 5 Series GT Models Get Recalled For Faulty Fuel Tank Sensors
BMW is recalling 6,080 5-Series and 5-Series GT models for a malfunctioning fuel tank sensor. The vehicles manufactured between January 12 and July 1, 2010 are prone to the problem, which can wedge itself against the fuel tank and cause an incorrect reading.
Drivers could conceivably run out of gas at the side of the road, and NHTSA’s website shows that BMW has yet to establish a fix for the problem. Worse yet, drivers might see you by the side of the road and catch a glimpse of the 5-Series Gran Turismo.
