2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Teased [Video]

Hyundai is set to finally debut the 2013 Genesis Coupe at next week’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and to stir up some excitement they’ve released a new teaser video for their next-generation sports coupe.

The teaser surprisingly reveals quite a bit of the new Genesis Coupe, albeit in actual bits and pieces rather than full car shots. Nonetheless, there aren’t any real surprises as to what it’ll look like after all the photos we’ve seen, but it’s nice to see more details on the newly revamped model. The 3.8 badge that’s also seen in the video proves that the new Genesis Coupe will be plenty potent with its Lambda V6 with 345-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Confirmed With 350-HP V6, 275-HP 2.0L Turbo

Now that we know what the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is going to look like, our speculation as to what will be under the hood can also end. Hyundai has officially announced that the new Genesis Coupe will come with a 2.0 TCI base engine and a direct-injection version of the Lambda 3.8. The 2.0L turbo will pack 275-hp while the 3.8L GDi will come with 350-hp – even more than the Genesis Sedan, which is rated at 333-hp.

Limited Edition Hyundai Genesis Coupe GT Heading To Germany

Hyundai Germany has announced a limited production of just 50 units for a Genesis Coupe GT, inspired by the Hyundai Schuhmann Motor Sport Team. The team is famous for campaigning a Genesis Coupe at the Nurburgring 24-hour race. The Genesis Coupe GT will come with the standard 3.8L V6 powerplant with 306-hp and 266 lb-ft of torque but will feature a quad-tipped, stainless steel exhaust.

Report: Kia Considering Genesis Coupe Twin

Kia is considering getting into the entry-level rear-drive sports car game with a new model that would likely be based on the architecture of the Genesis Coupe from sister company Hyundai. In an interview with the U.K.’s AutoCar, Kia design boss Peter Schreyer said while the model isn’t in the company’s product plan for the next two years it is something that he’d like to see. Schreyer warned, however, that as Kia is still an emerging company it would have to make a water-tight business car for the vehicle and not just build it for fun.
