Volkswagen is using some interesting technology to help promote its new Golf R in a clever campaign.

Whether you own one or not, there’s no denying the buzz Volkswagen’s Golf creates.

The most powerful production Volkswagen Golf model ever offered in the U.S. will be up for pre-order next month.

It appears Volkswagen is still mulling over the idea of a Golf R wagon.

Sold in the U.S. as the Jetta SportWagen, Volkswagen is working on a high-performance version of its Golf R Variant.

With 290 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, the 2015 Volkswagen Golf R will make its North American debut in Detroit.

Volkswagen is teasing its 2015 Golf R, hinting at possible debut during the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The next-generation Volkswagen Golf R is currently undergoing testing and it is believed that the range-topping hatch will make between 290 and 300 hp.

When Volkswagen finishes launching all seven planned variants of its popular Golf within the next 12 months, the Golf R will sit at the top of the lineup boasting 286 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Brand fans know that when Volkswagen stamps a car with the “R” badge, it means performance. Now the maker is slapping the R on another car: the Golf Cabriolet.

Topping the brand’s hot hatch range, the 2014 Volkswagen Golf R is appearing today for the first time in spy photos with a few visibile changes over the current model.

Introduced at the  Worthersee GTI meet as a concept, the Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet has now been caught testing by our spy photographers, dressed up like a GTI for a disguise.  

The Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet is the drop top version of the powerful Golf R, and we now know thanks to patent drawings that the cabriolet concept we saw last year will be put into production, although it likely won’t make it the the States. 

It’s almost here… the most powerful Golf to ever be sold on U.S. soil, and Volkswagen has just released official pricing with the 2-door model starting at $33,990. An over $10,000 premium from the GTI, the Golf R adds custom bodywork, a retuned suspension system, 18-inch wheels and upgraded brakes, plus tighter steering. But that’s only the start, with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine’s output being increased to 256-hp and 243 lb-ft of torque – up from 200-hp and 207 lb-ft in the GTI. Available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, fuel economy is rated at 19/27 mpg. And let’s not forged that like the old R32 models the Golf R gets VW’s 4MOTION AWD system, which can deliver up to 100 percent of the power to the rear wheels.

The eagerly anticipated  high performance Volkswagen Golf R has been confirmed for sale in the U.S in early 2012.
