Hyundai-Kia is expanding its electrified vehicle portfolio, planning to have at least 26 hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fully electric and hydrogen fuel cell powered cars by 2020. 

The world’s fifth-largest automaker is preparing to make heavy investments over the next four years.

Heads up EV fans, Kia is on track to launch its first global battery-powered vehicle in 2016.

Hyundai is working on a range of new technologies for its cars, including being able to lock and unlock the doors using your cell phone, which the brand says may be available on its production models by 2015. 

After admitting to overstating fuel mileage on many of their cars, both Hyundai and Kia are seeing “purchase intent” numbers dropping, according to data from Edmunds. 

A second lawsuit is now being brought against Hyundai and Kia for their incorrect mpg claims, seeking $775 million on behalf of 23 plaintiffs. 

There’s a lot going on at Hyundai -Kia these days, especially in powertrain engineering. Never wanting to be behind the competition, the collaborative South Korean automakers have confirmed that they’re developing a new turbocharged V6.

Hyundai is definitely making a lot of noise lately in the industry, and this might be their biggest boast yet. Today, they announced that Christopher Chapman has been named chief designer of the Hyundai Design Center located in Irvine, California. Chapman, who was BMW’s Design Director will be responsible for new vehicle and concept designs for Hyundai.
