Over 1.5 million Ford SUVs have been cleared in a government probe that examined allegations they were at risk of rolling away.

Today is the 1st of March and that only means one thing… February is rapidly fading into the rear-view mirror. How well did automakers fare in the second month of the year?  Here’s a look at some of the big sales stories from the last 28 days.

Large and in charge. Big is beautiful. Size matters. Yes, there are endless clichés to support the notion that the bigger something is, the better it is. In the automotive kingdom, some vehicles not only adhere to this philosophy, but redefine it. We aren’t talking the puny realm of offerings like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or even Dodge Charger. No, this is for the serious four wheeled hippos. The cars where it is more fun to be in the backseat than the front seat.

Lincoln’s long-lived Town Car served fleet duty for decades, but the obsolete large sedan finally reached the end of the line about a year and a half ago. Now the competition is moving swiftly to fill the vacuum left behind by Ford’s departed “panther” car, including Cadillac. 

Given its current product range, Lincoln probably isn’t the first brand you think of when the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance comes up in casual conversation.

After a long hiatus from advertising during the Super Bowl, Lincoln has made a return with a creative commercial for the 2013 Super Bowl.

January is known for two things: raucous New Year’s celebrations and miserably cold weather across many parts of the country. Despite holiday hangovers and blizzard conditions, vehicle shoppers snapped up cars and trucks like free earbuds at an iPhone launch.

With the aid of Jimmy Fallon, Lincoln has come up with a creative commercial for the 2013 Super Bowl starring its MKZ sedan.

Based on the Ford Escape, the Lincoln MKC concept just hit the show floor at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. 

Lincoln debuted the latest MKC Crossover Concept at Detroit this morning, showing off the company’s plans for a Ford Escape based crossover.

Thankfully the world didn’t end last month like Mayan soothsayers erroneously predicted centuries ago. Clearly prophecy wasn’t their major at Yucatan Community College. From an automotive perspective, the year-end news was quite good, with the Detroit Three each posting modest gains.

Ford is working hard to give its luxury Lincoln brand a new start, renaming it the Lincoln Motor Company and adding its own design and engineering team.

The recently renamed Lincoln Motor Company has pegged its sales goals for 2013, with the brand saying that a sales increase of 18 percent would constitute calling 2013 a good year. 

Lincoln, Ford’s luxury brand, will bring a concept version of its MKC crossover to the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January.
