Mercedes-Benz has sold more cars in the first six months of 2017 than it has in any half-year period prior. 

Mercedes-Benz reclaimed its sales crown in the U.S. in 2016, outselling both Lexus and BMW. 

Audi bested BMW and Mercedes-Benz in luxury car sales last month.

BMW is once again sitting on top of the luxury sales throne.

BMW is on track to sell over two-million vehicles this year.

Lexus is once again a competitor in the luxury car sales race.

Despite a late December sales surge from rival BMW that made things close, Mercedes-Benz managed to sell more luxury cars than anyone else in the US in 2013. 

Mercedes-Benz is expected to set a new production and sales record this year, its third year in a row for new records.

Thanks to a sales surge as a result of new compact models, Mercedes-Benz outsold crosstown rival Audi in November, taking the second place spot in the luxury sales race behind BMW that month. 

In the competition to take the U.S. luxury crown, Mercedes-Benz has all but conceded in the race, admitting that it won’t play any games to try to be number one.

According to data from Polk, U.S. buyers registered 67,385 BMW vehicles through March this year, topping Mercedes-Benz which saw 62,366 registrations.

For decades, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been competing for dominance in the luxury car market. In 2011, BMW took the top honors beating its German rival by just 2,715 vehicles sold. The race is even closer now, at least for the end of the first quarter of 2012, with BMW selling a mere 36 more cars than Mercedes.

For the second straight month, Mercedes-Benz topped BMW in sales, bringing them just 1,600 units behind in annual deliveries to its German luxury counterpart. Both brands are trying to replace Lexus, who has been at the top of the luxury sales list for the past 11 years, and this years’ race is probably the closest.
