Chevrolet Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter might have put rumors of a new rear mid-engine Corvette to bed.

“How can this car be so loud?” I think to myself a split-second before its engine hits redline. Just then the dual-clutch automatic grabs the next ratio in its six-gear stack, dropping the decibels slightly though not enough to make things any less deafening.

While the CTS-V Sedan and Coupe are great cars, the Cadillac brand is still in need of a true flagship model and nothing is off-limits – including a rear-drive mid-engine exotic.

Abarth’s rumored mid-engine sports car will apparently use the KTM X-Bow as a starting point, replacing the X-Bow’s Volkswagen mill with a Fiat Multi-Air engine good for 180 horsepower.
