Man Wins Lamborghini Murcielago, Crashes It Hours Later… On Purpose? [Video]
What some people aren’t aware of with contests and sweepstakes is that when you win a car, often you end up having to pay taxes and other fees. While this sure beats having to pay for the car itself, sometimes the taxes and fees are more than someone can handle. This was possibly the case with David Dopp, winner of this lime-green Lamborghini Murcielago.
David Dopp, a truck driver for Frito-Lay in Santaquin, Utah won a $350,000 Lamborghini Murcielago in Maverik’s “Joe Schmo to Lamborghini” contest. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, he posted on his Facebook page that he was already stopped by the cops. Ok, no surprise – the man just won a Lamborghini and drives a chips truck for a living.
But then six hours later, Dopp wrecks his Murcielago, spinning out on an icy road after going 40-50 mph in a 35-mph road. He went right back on Facebook to let all his friends know him and his passenger were safe, no one was hurt (except for the car) and that he has insurance. So that’s where it gets interesting. If the vehicle is totaled, Dopp will get a nice payday from insurance. If it isn’t totaled, well, he just screwed himself and will be stuck with a wrecked and repaired Murcielago with the same amount of taxes to pay.
Now we have to give Dopp the benefit of the doubt and believe he wouldn’t wreck a Lamborghini on purpose – and honestly if he was going to, he should have done a lot more damage. But hey maybe he wanted to play it safe and make sure no one was injured in the process, but we honestly believe he had every intention of keeping it nice and clean so that he could sell it. The accident is probably a result of getting his hands on the steering wheel of a real car.

Liberty Walk's LB-R Zero Fighter Is One Awesome Murcielago
Themed builds can often times be a disaster; sometimes attributed to having a bad concept, other times it’s just poor execution. The idea of taking a Lamborghini Murcielago and applying a themed build to it is could be scary, finding out that its inspiration comes from the Zero Fighter planes of the World War II era makes it interesting. Seeing the result though is proof that execution and taste is vital to building any project properly.
Matte Brown Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV Is Surprisingly Cool
In the world of matte wraps, the colors black, white, grey, blue, green and red maybe come to mind as acceptable finishes. Recently, a matte gold Nissan GT-R surfaced that made us wonder how other cars would look in non-traditional shades. Well, an answer to our curiosity has shown up with a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV exotic covered in a matte brown – yes, brown – finish. And surprisingly, it looks rather cool on the Lamborghini, contrasted by matte black accents and a nice set of gold wheels.

Status Design Studio Lamborghini Murcielago is Just in Time for Halloween
Just in time for Halloween, Russian tuner Status Design Studio has released its Lamborghini Murcielago tuning package. The front of the car is full of carbon fiber components including a hood replacement, front splitter, mirrors and headlight eyelid covers. The trend continues onto the side skirts while the rear is replaced with an LP640 bumper. On each corner is a black and orange themed wheel, but we’re guessing they’ll let you change the pinstripe color to match your car, or let you opt out of it entirely.

Pink Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV Impounded in London [video]
We’ve seen quite a few Middle Easterners cruising around London in funny-colored exotics recently, two of which were famously booted a couple of weeks back. Now, London police have impounded a matte-pink Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV for revving loudly…. with a cop directly behind him. According to an eyewitness:
“Al-Thani Koenigsegg CCXR and Murcielago LP670-4 SV were just leaving Sloane street to go for a drive, as he pulls away in the SV he started to rev loudly. A few cars behind was the Matt pink LP670-4 SV which also started to rev. Unfortunatly he hadn’t noticed the police car behind! They pulled him over for revving, then asked to see various documents, a couple of which he did not have on him. They then said they would impound the car until the documents were produced, and reg plate changed to a UK spec one as the Qatar plates are illegal!”
Some are arguing that the engine revving is actually a motorcycle that’s right in front of the Lambo, but we know the sound of an unleashed V12 when we hear one, watch the video of the whole incident after the jump, including the officer trying to start up and drive away the SV without much success.
London Parking Authorities Give 'the Boot' to Matching Turquoise Supercars
Here, a visiting middle-eastern man, vacationing in London for the summer, learned that the hard way, when his matching, turquoise Lamborghini Murcielago SV and Koenigsegg CCXR got the boot – the parking boot that is.. A sad sight indeed, but we’ll make up for it with a little video of the Turquoise Koenigsegg in action! Video after the jump.

Owner Wrecks One of 10 LP670-4 SV China Edition Lamborghini Murcielagos
The luck just doesn’t seem to be getting any better for Lamborghini s, as another crash has surfaced – this time having absolutely nothing to do with their employees. One would think when you own just one of 10 LP670-4 SV China Edition‘s in the world, you’d be a little more careful with it. Just by looking at the photos, we can tell this bull suffered a seriously unfortunate accident in Beijing earlier this month.
Details are sparse, but what has been documented is that the vehicle was speeding at around 110 mph when the driver lost control. The exotic left the road, struck a group of trees and finally came to a stop a good 100 meters away. Luckily, as crazy as it may seem in populated Beijing, there were no pedestrians on the road and both driver and passenger were unscathed despite not wearing their seatbelts. Another proof that money just can’t buy common sense, driving experience or… well, just a brain.
This year seems to be filled with plenty of celebrity deaths and we can add on to 2010 as the year Lamborghini has really made the news with plenty of destroyed rarities.
