Land Rover may have embarked on something of fool’s errand by borrowing a less-than-successful idea from Nissan.

It’s always exciting for automakers to introduce new cars to the market, but that also means that we have to bid farewell to antiquated models. Sometimes automakers replace aging cars with new ones while other times models get the axe due to poor sales. As we enter 2015, now is a great time to take a look at all the cars we said goodbye to in 2014.

These days its too easy to find a car that looks good, drives well and makes you feel like you’ve spent your money in the right way. But it hasn’t always been that way. There’s a number of cars out there that are just embarrassing.

Nissan is discontinuing both the Cube and Murano CrossCabriolet at the end of the 2014 model year. 

There’s always two sides to a story, and earlier we reported about how a Nissan dealership sold a $62,130 Murano Crosscabriolet to a man suffering from dementia. Now North Bay Nissan, the dealership in question, has agreed to take back the vehicle while explaining their side of the story.

Most of the time, bringing a new car home is an exciting occasion. It was quite the opposite for one California woman when her 70-year-old husband with dementia pulled up in a new Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet.

Nissan continues to push forward with its no-holds-barred approach to automotive design, unveiling a new two-door convertible version of its Murano SUV. Named the Murano CrossCabriolet, this bizarre new model follows on the heels of the launch of the tiny Juke crossover – criticized for its styling, but praised for its impressive engineering package.

Nissan has released information about a new plug-in sedan set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, a vehicle known as the Ellure. No details or photos have been released, but a nice bit of marketing fluff states that “Nissan’s dramatic new-value sedan exploration, the Nissan Ellure, is designed to bring a higher level of progressive and distinctive expression to the segment – adding passion and emotion to traditional sedan efficiency.”

The Ellure will debut alongside the Murano CrossCabriolet, as well as the new Quest minivan. Hit the jump to see the official press release.
