2011-2012 Porsche Boxster, Cayman And 911 Recalled Over Seatbelt Anchor Defect

Porsche is recalling specific vehicles from the 2011 and 2012 Boxster, Cayman and 911 model ranges due to an issue with the seatbelt anchor.

The automaker claims that undersized mounting holes for the anchors could cause the seatbelt to become not “routed optimally around the occupant.” Over time, the anchor could loosen, resulting in an increased injury risk in a crash.

Among the models targeted by NHTSA for recall include the 2011 911 Speedster, the 911 GTS RS 4.0, the 2012 Boxster (including the Boxster S and Spyder) and  Cayman (including the Cayman S and Cayman R), the 911 Carrera (including  the Carrera S, GTS, 4, 4S, and 4 GTS); 911 Targa 4/4S and the 911 Turbo and Turbo S manufactured from May 31, 2011 through June 10, 2011.

Porsche dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and made any necessary alterations free of charge.

TechArt Releases Noselift System for Porsche Boxster, 911 and Cayman

Obviously when it comes to modifying cars, there’s a different style and process to building and customizing each project. But at the top of almost everyone’s wish list is an aftermarket suspension, not only lowering the vehicle to give it a more aggressive stance, but to also improve its handling. There are major cons to lowering a vehicle though: a harsher ride and much less clearance between your car’s front bumper and hazards on the road. Those hazards mostly include those pesky curbs and speed bumps, causing us to take each at an angle and as slowly as possible.

Fiat 500, Nissan Quest, Among 20 World Debuts At 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show

The Fiat 500 hot hatch and Nissan Quest minivan are among the 20 world debuts expected to bow at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show this November.

Having traditionally lived in the shadow of Detroit’s International Auto Show, the lineup for this years event appears to be expanding, even though only two of the 20 debuts have been announced. Porsche is expected to debut a Cayman ClubSport at Los Angeles, but little else is known beyond that. In addition to the world debuts, another 20 vehicles are expected to bow in some form or another in L.A., pushing the total up to 40 debuts. The Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt are expected to appear in final production form as well, with the Volt hitting dealerships right around that time as well.

With even the 2010 Detroit Show coming off as a more subdued affair due to the economic downturn, Los Angeles is hopefully a harbinger of things to come, with a ton of product hitting dealerships and consumer confidence restored.

Porsche Panamera Is Porsche's Best Selling Car

Porsche‘s decision to sell a four-door sedan, over the loud objections of “diluting the brand,” appears to have been vindicated, as the Panamera climbed to the top spot in the Porsche sales race, moving an impressive 678 units in April. The fact that the Panamera is a pretty expensive car, and not an entry level model like a Boxster or Cayenne, shows that the market for pricey performance sedans is still there, and the Porsche brand is strong enough to challenge both the Mercedes and BMW’s of the world as well as more niche players like Maserati and Jaguar.
