Audi will be bringing a new LMP1 race car to the track for the 2014 season and though it still sports the R18 e-tron quattro name, the technology is completely new.

Audi is looking to continue its dominance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, running a 3:22.349 lap time today and taking the top spot in qualifying for this year’s endurance race.

Subject to much curiosity in the automotive world, Audi’s R8 e-tron electric sports car set a set world record today, even if the competition is relatively sparse.

Known as an innovator in racing, Audi isn’t being bashful about showing off its new hybrid diesel electric R18 e-Tron race car.

The hybrid, all-wheel drive Audi R18 e-tron quattro race car sporting a diesel powerplant will make its race debut at Spa Francorchamps this weekend.
