Mercedes-Benz‘s all new 2013 SL looks extremely impressive, but up until now we’ve only been treated to a collection of photos and a wall of specifications. Now the German luxury car manufacturer has made our day by releasing a trio of videos showcasing their new SL-Class which is set to have its official unveiling at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show.
Now sitting an impressive 300-lbs lighter than its predecessor, the new SL will sport a 4.6L V8 powerplant with 429-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Each video highlights the newly developed technology in the 2013 SL, ensuring that we’re all well aware that it’s sporty and light while packing an all-new aluminum body.
And besides, the new SL Roadster looks absolutely gorgeous in motion. Go treat yourself to the trio of videos showcasing the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL after the break.
Mercedes-Benz promises that we’ll see the next-generation SL in all its glory before the year is over, and more details have been released as they work towards their goal. The revamped SL roadster will feature a body shell made of 89-percent aluminum, making it almost 310-lbs lighter than its predecessor.
Continuing on its success in building multiple Black Bison packages for various Mercedes-Benz models, Wald has decided to show off its newest tuning package for the SL Class. As we’ve come to know and expect from Wald’s Black Bison line, the SL Class receives an aggressive body kit that can be ordered in either glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or carbon.
Mercedes-Benz has quietly dropped the V12 variants from its SL-Class model lineup, leaving the SL600 and SL65 AMG nowhere to be found. This may mean that significant changes could be coming to the SL-class lineup for its 2013 refresh, as Mercedes did confirm that the phasing out of its top models is in anticipation for the SL’s next generation.
This isn’t really news, but Misha Designs has made it officially official: they are releasing a widebody kit for the Mercedes-Benz SL. In case you missed the news earlier, we revealed that iForged built an SL55 for SEMA that would sport Misha Designs’ widebody kit. Now Misha Designs has released the full specs on the styling package.
The newly facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL offers a much more aggressive design. What it also leaves are R230 chassis owners wishing they could revamp their front end to the new generation without forking over the cash for a whole new car. There have been several aftermarket manufacturers that are catering to that market, offering all new front ends – hood, fenders, headlights, front bumper – to convert their SL to match. Prior Design has put their bid in with one of the nicer and more complete kits on the market for those R230 owners looking to rejuvenate their car.
