Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, and we didn’t use Photoshop. That’s a real deal Toyota GT 86… sort of.

As if the Toyota GT 86 wasn’t stylish or sporty enough, the folks at Modellista decided to give the sports car a futuristic touch in order to make it more stylish and sporty.

One of several GT 86 concepts unveiled by Toyota at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, it’s certainly not noteworthy because of its square eight-spoke rims.

Not to be outdone by Subaru, Toyota will be heading to the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon with several of its own custom FR-S models, with five of the 10 booth cars confirmed to be of the 86 variety.

A commercial for the Toyota GT 86 that shows a man escaping from police has been banned in the UK for condoning reckless and dangerous driving. 

Back in December, we reported that Toyota was considering two more sports cars to go along with its hugely successful GT 86 ( Scion FR-S), and now we can confirm that the Japanese automaker will be creating a successor to the Supra as quickly as it can.

The Toyota GT86 or Scion FR-S as it’s known on our shores may just be the best new sports car in a generation, but it certainly won’t be the last of its kind. According to chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, the FR-S is just the first of three planned sports cars by the world’s largest automaker.

First generation cars tend to have some teething issues, and Scion‘s latest baby, the FR-S is not without it’s quirks. Owners of the FR-S can breathe a little easier thanks to a new technical service bulletin (TSB) that resolves an annoying noise emitted by the car.

Toyota is embracing its GT 86 model in many different ways worldwide, one of which is launching its own drifting team in the United Arab Emirates.

Toyota in-house tuner TRD will debut a special version of the GT-86 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
