Electric cars are not the future, even in Europe where public perception of gas alternative mobility solutions is significantly more favorable. That, at least, is the opinion of the world’s largest automaker, as expressed by Toyota Motor Europe CEO Didier Leroy at the Paris Motor Show this week.

Although Toyota rolled out its second all-electric vehicle today, the company is making it clear that EV technology is not on the forefront of its battle plans, which will focus more on conventional hybrids and plug-in hybrids. 

Debuting later this week at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Toyota iQ EV has just been unveiled as the second all-electric vehicle in the brand’s lineup.

Scion‘s new iQ mini-car hasn’t even made it to dealers, but already Toyota has announced plans for an electric version of the strange 3-seater.

As we anticipate the launch of the Scion iQ here in North America, parent company Toyota is preparing to introduction an all electric version of the mini-car in Europe.
