Honda calls this the most powerful production model it’s sold in North America—but won’t specify by how much quite yet.

Honda is working on getting its sporty image back with cars like the NSX and Civic Type R, but if it were up to Honda Australia director Stephen Collins, the automaker would not be stopping there.

Honda is looking to outsell hot hatchbacks from brands like Volkswagen and Ford with its new Civic Type R and now it has announced plans to compete with them on the racetrack as well.

The Honda Civic Type-R is only available with a six-speed manual and the automaker won’t be putting an automatic in it for one very good reason: weight.

The closer the 2017 Honda Civic Type R is pushed to its outer limits, the sooner it becomes clear that this car is something special.
