It’s hard to imagine how Andy Palmer, the 54-year old CEO of storied British manufacturer Aston Martin, could get much cooler.

TRG-AMR North America has notched its first win with the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 at Sonoma Raceway in California.

California-based TRG-AMR North America has added two new drivers to its roster for the remainder of this year’s Pirelli World Challenge series, fielding a pair of Aston Martin Vantage GT4 race cars as full-time entrants.

Well-known Porsche racing team TRG has made the switch to Aston Martin and in doing so has formed a partnership with the storied British brand to grow its enthusiast base in America.

Aston Martin has updated its Vantage GT4 race car for the 2012 season, with the revamped model making its debut this past week at Silverstone for some shakedown runs.

For its return to North American racing, Aston Martin has teamed up with Multimatic Motorsports, which are based in Toronto, Canada. The lead car in this endurance race will be driven by Scott Maxwell and Joe Foster, while the second car will be piloted by Hollywood star Patrick Dempsey, who has proven over the years that he is a very accomplished racing driver. For this inaugural event, Dempsey will be teamed-up with Chriss Porritt, Aston Martin’s chief engineer, who is very experienced with the Vantage GT4.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Aston Martin‘s design director, Marek Reichman, and their engineering manager, Chris Porritt, will be competing in the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge on August 21st at Oulton Park. The Aston Martin GT4 Challenge is a one-make race series created by the British exotic car maker.
