There’s nothing the Stig loves more than a fast machine.

Everyone loves a good superlative. Whether something’s the biggest, tallest, longest or strongest, words ending in “-est” connote superiority and inspire awe. Of course in the world of automobiles it seems like everyone wants to be the “fastest.”

It didn’t beat anything in a traditional run up the hill, but the Nissan Leaf managed to take a new record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend by driving the fastest measured mile in reverse.

On June 19; Mercedes-Benz demonstration driver, Mauro Calo, has set a new world record for the longest powersliding drift, smashing the previous one by almost 400 meters (0.24 miles) , for a total distance of 2,308 meters (1.43 miles).
