2023 Jeep Gladiator FarOut Rubicon Edition - The Final Jeep Diesel

The oil-burning Jeep will soon be a thing of the past.
Stellantis announced a while ago, that it would be sunsetting its 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 powertrain. The turbocharged oil burner may have been the fuel economy leader, but as the brand shifts to more electrification, the EcoDiesel just doesn’t have a place anymore. Still, the conglomerate said it would do one more model year of vehicles equipped with the EcoDiesel. The Jeep Gladiator goes further, with a limited-run special edition truck that only comes with the diesel.
The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FarOut Edition is a final send-off for the diesel-powered Jeep truck. This isn’t quite an unprecedented addition, the Wrangler got a similar FarOut edition commemorating the end of the line of its diesel engine. Thus, the Gladiator is kind of the same thing, albeit in the form factor that includes a truck bed.
The FarOut edition is a hefty $12,100 above the standard Rubicon. With the FarOut package, there’s generous “3.0D” and “FarOut” badging on the tailgate, and a “Diesel 3.0L” sticker on the hood. The Gladiator has chunky 33-inch tires, black fender flares, LED headlights, and a spray-in bedliner. The interior is decked out with leather seats with red accents. As a whole, the FarOut edition is one of the most generously equipped Gladiators, it comes standard with the Cold Weather, Trailer-tow, Heavy Duty Electronics, and safety packages. Curiously, the FarOut also gets the 4.0:1 low-range transfer case, a feature normally reserved for the gas-powered 3.6-liter Pentastar V6-powered trucks.
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator FarOut edition is limited to 1,000 units and will be available for order until the end of September. If you’re in search of a decked-out diesel truck, now’s your time.
