Ford Gives EV Buyers Complimentary In-Home Chargers
No doubt hoping to incentivize buyers to switch to the EVs Ford has spent billions investing in, the company will now offer a free home charger when people buy or lease a new EV.
Take ownership of an F-150 Lightning, E-Transit, or Mustang Mach-E, and Ford will install the complimentary home charger free of charge. The company calls the initiative “Ford Power Promise,” and it includes other perks.
You can, for example, text an advisor 24/7 for support, and should your EV leave you stranded or break down, the Blue Oval’s roadside assistance will come and pick you up, taking you to a charging station or dealer.
As for the charger, the unit itself is the Ford Charge Station Pro, an SAE Level 2 charger that provides bi-directional charging up to 80 amps. It features a CCS port (though Ford will soon move to the NACS port), and usually runs buyers $1,310. Live in an apartment or don’t own the home you’ll be parking at? Ford will instead provide a $2,000 credit to buyers.
