Ford Teases New Expedition Ahead Of Debut
Ford is gearing up to reveal its all-new, fifth-generation Expedition, a launch that’s been long anticipated following the debut of the refreshed Lincoln Navigator.
Slated for an official debut on October 3, the 2025 Ford Expedition has been caught in spy shots for months, if you've been paying attention you already have a pretty good idea of what’s to come.
The teaser shows the new front fascia highlighted by wrap-around daytime running lights and an imposing grille that hints at body-on-frame underpinning—it's really just an F-150 under the skin. The thick SUV carries “Expedition” spelled across on the hood.
For power, the 2025 Expedition will likely stick to the tried-and-true 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which currently offers outputs ranging from 380 to 400 horsepower and 470 to 480 lb-ft of torque, depending on trim. The Navigator manages 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque with the same powertrain, but it's possible Ford allocated a lower spec to the Expedition to create some premium differentiation.
There’s talk of a split tailgate making its way onto the new Expedition, mirroring the Navigator’s setup. That should provide more versatility for loading and unloading, a nod to those who prioritize utility in their full-size SUVs.
Inside, we’re expecting a more practical layout compared to the Lincoln. The luxury SUV’s massive, pillar-to-pillar screen probably won't show up here, but Ford will obviously bring its latest tech, including a large central display and the latest Sync system.
The full rundown will happen next week next Thursday at 8 PM Eastern.
