Stellantis is under investigation by U.S. authorities following reports of engine fires in Jeep vehicles, specifically the Wrangler and Gladiator models from 2021 to 2023.

According to a document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue may affect an estimated 781,459 vehicles. Most of the reported fires appear to have started on the passenger side of the engine compartment, even while the vehicles were turned off.

This investigation adds to recent challenges for Stellantis, which over the weekend announced the recall of 1.46 million Ram trucks, mainly in North America, due to a software problem that could disable their electronic stability control systems. .

Earlier in 2023, the NHTSA also launched a separate investigation into complaints about RAM 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep Wagoneer SUVs from 2022, which reportedly experienced engine shutdowns at low speeds. Stellantis is cooperating with both investigations.

If that's not bad enough, Stellantis brands have been rated as the worst to purchase second-hand.
