2019 Cadillac Cars

In the span of only a calendar's life or two, Cadillac has utterly transformed. General Motors' luxury division has had a product onslaught, multiplying its crossover and SUV lineup while re-aligning its sedans. The new-for-2020 Cadillac CT4 kicks off the range, pitching Cadillac into the hyper-competitive compact sport sedan segment once more. The CT5 is a size up, effectively replacing the similarly-badged CTS, the car that first put Cadillac up against the German luxury establishment at the turn of the millennium. Both cars offer small yet powerful turbocharged engines, including their warmed-up (but not quite hot) V trims. The full-size CT6 ended production in January 2020, including the CT6-V with its exclusive "Blackwing" turbo V8 engine. SUV fans have twice as many options to choose from here. The XT4 is the smallest, a pint-size helping of American luxury. Next is the brand's best-selling model, the compact XT5. Buyers wanting bigger have two options: the more car-like XT6, and the flagship Escalade. The latter received a full revamp for 2021, adding even more luxury and tech. Cadillac's Super Cruise is the brand's hands-free driving system. It originally debuted on the CT6, but is slowly spreading across the lineup, including the CT4 and Escalade. Super Cruise uses a combination of high-precision GPS, lidar map data, and the vehicle's cameras and sensors. It also uses a driver attention system: while the system is hands-free, the driver's eyes must be focused on what's going on ahead for it to stay active. Formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company, Cadillac is named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, a French explorer who founded the city of Detroit. The company was bought by GM in 1909. Known as ‘The Standard of the World” Cadillac was the first to bring to market a car with an electric ignition in 1912 and the first to use a V16 in 1930.
