2019 Ram ProMaster City Wagon OverviewThe RAM ProMaster City is the smallest van customers can buy from the Dodge showroom. Its compact footprint provides plenty of advantages over bigger trucks and vans. It features a 2.4L "Tigershark" 4-cylinder gasoline engine, making 178 horsepower that sends power to the front wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. The configuration allows for a lower load floor than those found in rear-wheel drive vehicles. Torque is more than adequate at 174 foot-pounds, while fuel economy is rated at 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city.
The ProMaster City is offered in two basic body styles -- Cargo Van and Passenger Wagon. The Cargo Van only features seats in the front of the vehicle and with a large load area behind them. This makes it ideal as an urban delivery vehicle or even a small mobile workshop.
As its name implies, the Passenger Wagon has a rear bench allowing it to seat up to five people. However, unlike a small hatchback, the ProMaster City Passenger Wagon still has ample cargo room behind the rear seats. Other differences between the two body styles include a set of rear windows that are only present on the Passenger Wagon version of the ProMaster City.
Standard features on the ProMaster City include sliding side doors and a 60/40 split rear opening. Load height is only about 21 inches off the ground, a feature sure to please anyone loading or unloading heavy cargo. The rear doors only open to 90 degrees, but can be configured to open a full 180 degrees if so desired.
Safety features include anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, hill-start assist, trailer sway control, rollover mitigation and a rearview camera. Airbags include front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and standard front airbags.
2019 Ram ProMaster City Wagon Model Changes
The RAM ProMaster City returns for 2019 with refreshed front-end styling. The new front end displays the RAM name prominently in the grille, adding a bit of brand identity to the small cargo van. Additional improvements have been made to the vehicle's telematics systems. Fleet owners will be better able to track the ProMaster City thanks to updates from Verizon, which should potentially help owners save money on fuel and improve route efficiency.
2019 Ram ProMaster City Wagon Value
The RAM ProMaster City competes with vehicles like the Ford Transit Connect, Nissan NV200, and the Chevy City Express. Like all three of those vehicles, the ProMaster City uses a compact unibody structure that shares more with small economy cars than with traditional pickup trucks. The advantages of such a platform include a stiffer, lighter chassis, smoother suspension and better fuel economy. As its name implies, the ProMaster City will fit right at home in an urban environment, where it is maneuverable enough to get down crowded streets and compact enough to find a parking spot once a destination is reached.
