2020 Mazda CX-30 First Drive Review

The crossover boom is inescapable, even for Mazda, a marque long revered as the maker of fun-to-drive, reasonably priced cars. Its Mazda3 compact sedan formerly served as a gateway into the brand, but even it waned in popularity with the rise of enthusiasts’ least-favorite mildly lifted segment. Thus, the CX-3 crossover was born to woo singles and small families into a Mazda with an entry-level subcompact crossover.

2020 Mazda CX-30 Launched, Rivals Crosstrek, Rogue Sport

After showcasing the CX-30 at the Geneva Motorshow this year, Mazda has finally announced the pricing of its coupe-esque SUV for the North American market. The MSRP for the CX-30 starts from $21,900 and goes up to $29,600 for the Premium top trim. Prices exclude the $1045 destination fee. The CX-30 fills the gap between the CX-3 and CX-5 crossovers. It is about six inches shorter than the CX-5 and features a wheelbase that is two inches shorter and is also narrower by two inches.  Compared to its competitors like the Nissan Rogue Sport, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and the Subaru Crosstrek, it is slightly longer than the Rogue but smaller than the other two. But in profile looks uncannily similar to the CX-5. You could even call it the coupe version of the CX.

Audi Gives the E-Tron a Sportback Variant

With Audi’s bold plans for 20 new EVs by 2025, it’s probably not much of a surprise that not all of them are entirely different from each other. By that, we mean that some variants are not just likely, but inevitable. The latest, unveiled today the night before the LA auto show is one of those. It’s an e-tron, but this time it’s a Sportback.

2019 Kia Niro EV Review

Two segments growing faster than any other in today’s market are crossovers and EVs. The former has been growing like gangbusters for ages, with everyone from Aston Martin to Volkswagen busying themselves with stuffing their portfolios full of these high riding wagons. As for electric vehicles, manufacturers need to simultaneously appeal to shoppers while offering rigs with one eye on Johnny Polar Bear. Merging the two makes more than a lick of sense for the customer who makes treks to the hockey rink but brings burnt kale chips as a snack.

A Ford Mustang-Inspired Electric SUV Is Coming. Here's How to Be Ready

Electric vehicles are on the rise. According to data from J.D. Power, EVs actually outsold manual transmission-equipped cars for the first time in Q3 2019. And while that’s as much a comment on manual’s slipping popularity as on the market’s growing appetite for EVs, it’s nonetheless true that battery-powered cars are on track to represent an ever greater share of new vehicle sales over the coming years.

Well, I did still see that departure, but there was more of a reason.
