Old Republic Insurance Highlights
Old Republic General Insurance Group was started in 1935 and has offices in places including Chicago and Pennsylvania. The company sells a variety of products, including Old Republic risk management services, professional liability coverage, title insurance, and workers’ compensation packages.
It sells aftermarket auto services plans and vehicle service contracts through its subsidiary, Old Republic Insured Automotive Services, Inc. While it does sell commercial automobile coverage, it does not sell personal car insurance policies like general liability insurance or collision coverage.
Old Republic Insurance Extended Auto Warranty Coverage
Old Republic Insurance Company has three different types of protection plans: Total Vehicle Protection, MVP, and Ultimate Plus. Total Vehicle Protection plans offer expanded coverage for new and pre-owned vehicles. MVP plans specialize in coverage for older vehicles with over 60,000 miles. Ultimate Plus plans (which provide bumper-to-bumper coverage) are offered exclusively through financial institutions such as credit unions.
No plan can be purchased from Old Republic directly. Instead, these contracts must be found through a dealership or financial institution.
Total Vehicle Protection

Old Republic Insurance Cost
Old Republic Insurance contracts are sold exclusively through dealerships. As such, we were not able to receive a quote by calling the company directly. Our researchers were able to find one customer who reported paying $2,799 for a plan for her Ford. Without knowing the terms of her contract, it is difficult to compare this price with competitors.
Even assuming the price listed above is for a contract with the lowest level of coverage and a three-year term, this is a competitive price for the industry. Your own price will depend both on the level of coverage you select and your vehicle specs. Older vehicles with higher mileage will cost more to cover.
Quotes and Claims Processes
You cannot get a quote directly from Old Republic Insurance. If you are considering an Old Republic Insurance plan, reach out to your vehicle dealer or bank. You can try calling Old Republic yourself to ask about authorized retailers in your area.
The claims process for an Old Republic Insurance vehicle service contract is standard. When your vehicle needs repairs, take it to any repair facility certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE®). Contact your Old Republic claims administrator and authorize the mechanic to perform a teardown service. If your claim is approved, the administrator will pay the repair facility directly, and you’ll pay only your deductible.
Old Republic Insurance Reviews and Ratings
At the time of publication, Old Republic International Corporation holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but it is not accredited. It has only received a handful of customer complaints through the BBB in the past three years, and none was related to Old Republic Insurance extended warranty contracts. Some customers did report claims issues for their GAP coverage through Old Republic.
Old Republic has an A+ AM Best financial strength rating. Because it is an established insurer with a large profile beyond vehicle service contracts, Old Republic is far less likely to run out of money to pay claims than other extended service plan providers.
Old Republic Insurance Extended Warranty: 3.8 Stars
Old Republic Insurance is an established insurance company with a long and positive reputation. It seems like a safe bet for your extended vehicle service contract needs, as it is able and likely to pay out claims.
Coverage options and additional benefits offered by Old Republic are standard for the industry. Because the company provides such a wide range of products, it may not specialize or provide the same level of care as dedicated providers.
All in all, an Old Republic contract is worth looking into. Consider asking your bank or car dealer if they sell Old Republic extended warranties or call Old Republic and ask about local providers.
