There’s no question that Chrysler product interiors have improved dramatically over the last several years. Now it appears that trend is set to continue, at least on the 2012 Dodge Durango.

Chrysler has announced that this vehicle will be offered with second row Captain’s Chairs in all trim configurations; SXT, Crew, R/T and Citadel.

Retailing for $695, the optional second row Captain’s Chairs incorporate a flip and fold feature to provide easy stowage to maximize cargo space, as well as integrated, soft touch armrests. There’s also a floor mounted console between these seats for holding drinks and other small objects, yet one that’s designed to still permit passengers to walk between second and third row seating.

For an additional $300, Durango customers can upgrade to a larger center console that incorporates a 12-volt power outlet, illuminated cup holders and extra storage space.

According to Dodge brand CEO Reid Bigland, “the 2012 Durango has been incredibly well received by customers and critics alike. One message we hear repeatedly is how spacious and refined the Durango’s interior is. With the addition of second-row captain’s chairs, we’re now taking Durango to an even higher level of luxury and value, when combined with its best-in-class power, towing and driving range.”
