First displayed in prototype form at the Villa D’Este Concours d’Elegance on the shores of Lake Como, Italy last year, the production version of Aston’s hallowed V12 Zagato is now ready to make its premiere, at a similar type of event, though in a rather different setting; Kuwait City.

The Kuwait Concours d’Elegance is the only event of its kind in the Middle East region and this year is being supported by Premier International Motors Group, Aston Martin’s dealer partner in Kuwait.

“We are excited to show the new V12 Zagato for the first time in production form at the Kuwait Concours d’Elegance,” declared Aston’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez, “Over 50 years since the introduction of the iconic DB4GT Zagato, Aston Martin and Zagato have collaborated to create this modern interpretation which remains true to the original focus of craftsmanship, performance and exclusivity.”

Only 150 examples of the new V12 Zagato will be built, each hand crafted at Aston’s headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK, with the first deliveries slated for late this year. The Zagato, although based on the V12 Vantage, features Aston’s most bonded aluminum structure ever, incorporating carbon fiber in its construction to help save weight; along with a bespoke interior.

Powered by a 510 hp 6.0-liter V12, the car retails for £330,000 before taxes ($518,266 US) and alongside its hallowed DB4GT predecessor (built from 1959-63) will likely rank as one of the most desirable Astons of all time (original DB4GT Zagatos tend to trade hands for around $1.5 to $2 million today).

And, in perhaps a fitting ceremony for introducing the new Zagato, a number of classic Astons from private collections around the world will be on display at this year’s Kuwait Concours d’Elegance, with, appropriately, an original DB4GT Zagato among them.
