Driving enthusiasts in select cities across the U.S. will have the chance to drive Ford Focus ST with professional race instruction this summer.

“Our fans have expressed extremely high interest in this car, but we know the proof is in the pudding,” said Lisa Schoder, Ford Focus ST marketing manager. “We want ST fans, as well as drivers of competitive vehicles, to be able to taste this car firsthand.”

Ford hopes that taste will be enough to convince stalwart Volkswagen GTI fans that there is something else available to consider instead of their favorite hot hatch. With 247 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque the Focus ST trounces the GTI from a pure spec sheet perspective.

Events are scheduled to take place in New York, Washington D.C., Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The first takes place in New York and starts June 30.

Those able to attend can look forward to taking the car out on a closed course and getting professional instruction while running hot laps.

““What better way to do it,” Schoder said, “than to bring the car to the people with the help of professional driver instruction on closed course?”

Registration is open now and it’s being run on a first-come-first-serve basis. There’s no cost to attend, but capacity is limited so click over and get a spot while you still can.
