The Jaguar XFR family is about to get a new, high-performance addition when the XFR-S makes it official debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Taking on the likes of the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG models, the XFR-S has been highly anticipated from the British automaker to be unveiled this year. It’s widely believed that the XFR-S will be powered by the same 542-hp V8 supercharged powerplant as the XKR-S model while having much more aggressive aerodynamics with a sportier appearance than the rest of the XFR lineup.

Without a doubt, a 542-hp XFR-S model will put it more on par with its German rivals. The current XFR features 510-hp from a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 and doesn’t hold up well against the 552-hp M5 and 549-hp E63 AMG.
