Well that was quick. A mere three months after it came to light that a Need for Speed movie was heading to the big screen, a release date has already been set for February 7th, 2014.

DreamWorks Studios will be creating the film based on the popular Electronic Arts virtual driving games and will be released by Disney, while Scott Waugh of Act of Valor fame will be tasked with directing it. As we mentioned before, George and John Gatins developed the original story for the flick and John will be co-producing the movie with Mark Sourian.

Here’s to hoping it won’t be terribly awful.
