Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Spy Photos

After production was confirmed for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, an AMG model was sure to follow, and now we have spy photos of the CLA45 AMG being tested.

The CLA is going to be a downsized CLS, and slot in under the C-Class as a new compact from the brand. The regular CLA will have a 201-hp turbocharged 1.8-liter found in the current C-Class under the hood. For the AMG however, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo that makes 325 horsepower will be making the power. The A45 AMG also uses this engine, and some of its style with the CLA. All-wheel drive will be provided by Swedish company Haldex, to get all that power to the road without spinning the wheels.

The photos show off a rear-spoiler on the car, as well as beefier brakes, deep front spoiler, wider track and wheels, and big side sills. If those performance upgrades weren’t enough to give away the car’s AMG heritage, the deep, unmistakable exhaust note surely was.

The CLA45 AMG should bow sometime in 2013.
