It seems like only a matter of time until Lexus introduces a compact crossover smaller than the RX, and it looks like that small crossover will use both a turbocharged engine and a hybrid setup.

Past rumors have indicated the cute ‘ute will be badged as the NX and according to a new report by Carsensor.net, the compact Lexus will use a 2.0-liter turbo engine in the NX200t model, while an NX300h will borrow the same 2.5-liter hybrid engine from the new IS 300h and ES300h.

Power output for the new turbo engine is yet unknown, but the hybrid should produce roughly 200 hp and could achieve as much as 40 mpg.

Exactly when the new sub-RX crossover will arrive is still unknown, as Mark Templin, Lexus USA Vice President, told AutoGuide recently that the brand is in no rush to bring it to the United States, as it will likely steal some sales away from the already successful RX.
