Starting with the 2014 model year, Audi will sell an S variant of one of its crossovers: the SQ5.

First seen during the Detroit Auto Show in January, the automaker announced today that its performance crossover will carry a $52,795 starting MSRP including delivery. The car uses a 3.0-liter supercharged six-cylinder and produces 354 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque to reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

Unfortunately, Audi didn’t see fit to include its seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, instead opting for the eight-speed automatic.

Don’t take that to mean the SQ5 is a half-baked project. Audi upgrades the styling, driving dynamics and interior appointments. A roof rack sensor recognizes when the cross bars are installed and adjusts the car’s stability control for the top-heavy load.

Other changes include standard 20-inch wheels with optional 21-inch versions available as well. The car also has a specially colored grille and diffuser, aluminum mirror caps and quad exhaust tips.

The cabin gets standard leather and Alcantara sport seats while Nappa leather upholstery is an available option. There’s also an SQ5-specific shift knob and a gray instrument face with white needles.

Delivery to dealers will begin later this summer.
